Masking in preparation for sraying the paint

A quick test with the HVLP sray gun.

The first of 3 coats of epoxy primer (from system-3 resins), thinned with water and alcohol. The spray gun did a very good job, but was very slow with the paint I was using. The first 600ml took an hour to spray. After that I removed the strainer from the gun and prestrained all the paint. Mixing and straining a batch of the paint took about 15 minutes, along with cleaning the spray gun each time. All in all the most paint I could spray in a day was about 2 liters.

I also needed to stop before it cooled off too much in the evening for the paint to cure.

After the first coat I discovered it was very hard to tell where you were recoating when spraying the same color. So I started alternating layers of white and gray primer.

After the primer came 4 more layers of water reducible LPU paint (also from System-3 resins). Thinning with water. I alternated white and offwhite layers to make it easier to see the recoats.

Finally color is an offwhite.
